• Turkmenistan is largely a desert country with intensive agriculture in irrigated oases and sizeable gas and oil resources. (CIA-The World Factbook)
  Turkmenistan este în mare parte o tara in desert  cu agricultura intensive in  oaze irigate şi  resurse apreciabile  de gaze naturale şi petrol.
  
• Turkmenistan was part of the Soviet Republic until 1992. Since then the former Communist leader Niyazov has appointed himself as a self styled dictator for life. in December 2006 the eccentric president, Saparmurat Niyasov, suddenly died.  The new president, Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, has promised to continue Niyasov’s political heritage (Operation World)
  Turkmenistan a fost parte a Republicii Sovietice pana în 1992. De atunci, fostul lider comunist Niyazov s-a auto desemnat  ca  dictator pe viata. In decembrie 2006, acest presedinte excentric a murit pe neasteptate. Noul presedinte, Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, a promis ca va continua politica mostenita de la Niyasov’s.
